The name Calyan (pronounced cal-yun) is a made-up word, a combination of California and our founder's mother's name, Vivian, both of which played a key role in the inspiration for Calyan. Soy wax is chosen as it comes from a renewable source, unlike the paraffin wax used in many notable candle brands.
